Tucked behind an imposing wooden Tai Lue house is the more conventional-looking concrete Muang Sing. Rooms are small, but pretty clean and well looked after, with a fan and mosquito net. Some have bathrooms, with a bucket flush western toilet and a cold bucket wash shower. Each guest gets a large thermos of boiled water each day for a warm wash. Other rooms have no bathroom but access to shared squat toilets lit by candles at night and a cold bucket wash shower.
